Free Lightroom Presets
Posted by admin | Filed under Photography
You may have noticed how much I love lightroom by all the posts I have made relating to it and here is another. I love presets and I know I can recreate them myself but they are so quick to flick through once you have them installed you may as well get some and here is a great resource for them, see here.
Where did I come up with the name Presidium from?
Posted by admin | Filed under Rambling
It’s not a particularily long story, I have watched Bond films since I was a young lad and I would expect that I am easily into double figure watches of 80% of the films and in doing so a few scenes stick in your mind. I was thinking of what the hell to call my personal blog and knowing that some bloody weaver in the US has my full name domain I went back to Bond, one of my favourite Bond films is From Russia With Love and the opening dialogue between Blofeld, Kleb and Kronsteen:
Number Three, is your section ready to carry out Kronsteen’s directives?
Yes, Number One. The operation will be organised according to Kronsteen’s plan.
I have selected a suitable girl from the Russian Consulate in Istanbul.
She’s capable, cooperative,
and her loyalty to the state is beyond question.
You’re sure she believes you’re still
head of operations for Soviet Intelligence?
It is most unlikely she would know I’m now working for SPECTRE.
Moscow kept my defection secret from all but a few members of the presidium.
And here is the Wikipedia explanation of it, see here. Enjoy.
Themed events

I love a good theme, I really do, when someone has put their heart and soul into an event/occasion and you can tell they have thought through all the little details to make it really hang together. The first time I realised how important themeing can be is when I went to Islands Of Adventure in Florida for the first time. I had been to Alton Towers loads as a kid and loved it, the rides were great and we always had a laugh. When we went to Florida I expected much of the same and in most theme parks that is exactly what I got until IoA. IoA did not only have the best god damn rides in Florida but every single thing kept to the theme I mean everything the bins, the street, the doors, the characters it is everywhere and becomes part of the experience and I love that.
This guy who writes for Magic shows the details of his wedding and it is bloody brilliantly themed, get yourself over there and take a look, see here.
Block Posters - turning small pictures into a wall poster
Posted by admin | Filed under Photography
I was looking for a way of getting one of my pictures turned into a big wall canvas a bit like those you see at Ikea but the cost was getting ridiculous (nearly £600 was one price I got) so have been on the lookout for a different approach and I found this. Block Posters lets you upload an image which it scales and then turns into a pdf with A4 size which you print yourself. I know this won’t look quite as professional and may be a bit blocky but I may give it a try, see here.
Amazon Windowshop

I must have been under a rock for the last couple of weeks because I have only just had a go with the new Windowshop but I am impressed. Apart from the minor hickup where I got a C++ error which killed my browser it behaved brilliantly and is the best crossover of physical shop I have ever seen on the web, in fact in somes ways for me it is better than a real shop especially when shopping for CDs, you can just scroll over the album and it plays a 30 sec (or so) clip which is perfect to get a reminder of the band. Go and have a look here.
Lightroom and GPS

I know people, I have gone a little external link bonkers at the moment but I am finding so many great little addons to Lightroom that I may have to get a special badge saying how much of a fanboy I am. Anyway I digress, I used to have a Trackstick Pro and loved the GPS + photo stuff I could do but tbh it was always a bit of a pain in the ass to get all the data in the right place, this new plugin from Jeff Friedl would have saved my bacon and made the whole job a lot easier. If you ever use any GPS geocoding with your photos and Lightroom get your hands on this plugin, see here.
